Learn To Groom Your Dog was developed by the owner of Club Doggie Mobile Grooming Salon in Boise, ID, in the effort to help teach as many people as possible how to provide basic grooming care for their dogs. Every dog deserves to be clean and healthy, and a clean dog gets more love!
Lauren and her three dogs.
Learn To Groom Your Dog will teach you as much, or as little, as you want to learn about grooming your own dog. Private lessons are given at your home, in the Club Doggie Mobile Grooming Salon grooming van. It's like having your own private dog grooming school in your driveway! No distractions, all the focus is on you and your dog. The private lessons are custom designed to fit your individual dog's grooming needs, your abilities and what you wish to learn. Some clients will only need one lesson to learn how to perform a basic bath and brush out, how to clip nails, clean ears and express glands etc., and others may need a few lessons to learn to clip and scissor their dogs to their breed standard (such as a Schnauzer or Poodle), Some clients may also wish to learn how to "tidy" their dogs between groomings (comb outs, nail trims, trim around eyes, mouth, private areas and paws) in order for them to go longer between professional groomings.
Even basic bath dogs such as Vizsulas, Labs, Pugs, Beagles and Mutts require a bit more attention and knowledge than you may think. Procedures such as bathing and drying your dog do have a wrong and right way to be carried out. Learning how to thouroghly de-shed your dog and use the proper tools to get rid of all that hair is invauable! Do you know the most important step in de-shedding your dog? Or the most common mistake dog owners make with a heavy shedding dog? Do you know how to keep your dog from squirmming around while you are trying to comb them or clean their eyes? How to best acclimate your new puppy to grooming and how soon? Or the trick to trimming black nails? How not to get water in your dog's eyes, up their nose or in their mouth and how dangerous it is if you do? How to clean your dog's ears and if you should pluck the hair out or not? What about that brown stuff in the ears? What about anal glands, should you be expressing them, or not? Then there is the overwhelming choice of shampoos and conditioners or which brush to use on their type of coat and most importantly, how to keep your dog safe during grooming. These are just a few ot the things you can learn with a private grooming lesson.
Learn To Groom Your Dog will also help you to purchase the correct grooming tools needed for your dog and show you how to use them safely and properly, therefore decreasing your chances of a costly vet bill. One private lesson can teach you more about grooming your dog than you can learn anywhere else and having the proper tools and knowledge can save you time and money. Learning how to groom your dog from a certified, highly experienced, professional dog groomer, both in technique and dog behavior, will help make all your future groomings more enjoyable for both you and your dog!

For some, grooming can also be costly on a monthly basis and there are many people who would like to be able to groom their dogs themselves to save some money. However, many people do not have the skills, tools or knowledge on how to groom their own dog and that's where Learn To Groom Your Dog can help.
Some people may ask, "Why would a professional dog groomer want to teach people how to groom their own dogs? Wouldn't that take business away from their service?". No, because there are more than enough people out there that will never have the desire to groom their own dogs and prefer to hire a professional to groom them. Most people don't have the time or energy and some people don't have the ability or the patience to groom their own dogs. Furthermore, some dogs are just too high maintenance and or difficult for the average dog owner to groom and they need a professional. If money is not a factor, then it is ideal to have a professional groomer come monthly to take care of Fido! Even if you have your dog professionally groomed on a regular basis, there are still basic grooming procedures that should be implemented in between visits to your groomer.
Club Doggie Mobile Grooming Salon provides a top knotch, convenient, professional service and Lauren is not worried about running out of clients for her mobile grooming business by teaching others to groom their own dogs. What Lauren does worry about, are all the dogs out there who need regular grooming and aren't getting it!
